Amaryllis Flowers Offers Tips to Bringing Spring into Your Home this Season

Loudonville, NY-- April 11, 2007 - With spring finally here in the Capital Region,
even if the weather hasn't caught up with the new season, many residents are looking
to lift their moods by redecorating their homes for the warmer months ahead.
According to the owner of Amaryllis Flowers in Latham, homeowners can easily add
touches of spring to their décor.

"Spring brings out the best in people" said Lori Fitzgerald, owner of Amaryllis
Flowers. "It's no wonder they would like to add a bit of it to their homes."

She offers five tips to help brighten up a home with the warmth of spring.

1) Add fresh flowers to your tabletops. "Adding a beautiful vase of flowers will
instantly brighten an entire area," says Fitzgerald. "Using springtime favorites
like daisies, tulips or daffodils, or even an indoor plant, bring the feel of the
outdoors into your rooms."
2) Bring outdoor wicker in. You don't have to throw out your couch for a wicker sofa
to make your living room feel airier. Instead, bring those patio chairs in until
summer and rearrange your room for a quick change. No furniture? Opt for wicker
accessories, such as wicker frames for easily swappable portraits, wicker
wastebaskets, or even wicker hand baskets that can double as storage!
3) Revive Color. "Injecting the colors of springtime into your family room and
kitchen is a great way to refresh your home and your mood," says Fitzgerald. "Sunny
yellows, bright blues, lush greens and even white are calming tones that encourage
relaxation and lift spirits." If splashing 'Lemon Yellow' on your walls seems like
to much, adding a new tablecloth, dishes, accent pillows, throw blankets, and even
lampshades in these colors will do the trick.
4). Gardening Indoors. Gardens are a beautiful addition to any home, but the tools
used can be just as pleasing to the eye. Check if your local craft store stocks
gardening tools and hang them on the wall in your kitchen. You can also buy clay
pots and decorate them with paints or fabrics to be placed atop counters, window
sills or even on staircases. You can even use different sized pots with fresh or
silk flowers in them as centerpieces.
5) Gain tranquility with your own fountain. "The sounds of a bubbling stream or a
fountain in the park make everyone feel at peace. This way you can feel that way at
home too," says Fitzgerald. Small stone fountains (that really work!) can be placed
on top of end tables or larger ones that stand on the floor can be found in a
variety of places depending on your price range.
